Printing & Presentation by Shauna Lofy

I have finally found some beautiful packaging for the gift cards! Do a Google search for gift card boxes and you will find all sorts of options. I found two sources that carry the Platform Boxes in several color options. You can find them at Box & Wrap and Packaging Specialities. Both these companies offer logo imprinting but they take several weeks. I did not have that kind of time so I ordered them without and purchased a Cricut® machine from Joann Fabrics to make my own self adhesive foil stickers to add to the lid of my boxes.

The matte gold gift bags I found on Amazon. Quantities are limited but they do have a variety of colors to choose from. You can also find other options at Bag & Bows and Box & Wrap. Just pay attention to the size to fit the type of gift card box you choose. I also added a DIY white vinyl self-adhesive sticker custom cut using the Cricut® to add to the tag on the bag.

I printed DIY foil laminated welcome cards. Using a monochrome laser printer with a black toner cartridge (ink-jet printers will not work for this) it must be printed in black toner for the foil to adhere to the the text. You can also find a local printing vendor who can print the welcome cards for you on their laser printer. Be sure to indicate that in needs to be printed in black. Ask for a test proof first to try it out before you print a larger order of welcome cards and envelopes. Then foil laminate them yourself.

I purchased a Heidi Swap® Minc foil laminator from Hobby Lobby which also has a variety of foil colors. I picked up Gold, Rose Gold and Silver to try them out. Included in the gift card template on my Etsy shop is a flat 5×7” welcome card that you can customize and print however you want or use it for the DIY foil laminating. Envelopes I also printed with the same process.

Paper and envelopes: Must use smooth paper. Textured papers like linens or felts do not transfer the foil very well. You can purchase packs of 5×7 flat or folded card stock and envelopes (A7 size) at any craft store like, Micheal’s, Hobby Lobby, or Joann Fabrics. If you are foil laminating your envelopes be sure to lay the envelopes flat with the flap open or the heat from the laminator will melt the glue and seal the envelopes closed. Foil sheets must be added to both sides of the card before you put them through the laminator.

If DIY is not your thing Box & Wrap, Packaging Specialities and Bags & Bows offers custom imprinting on gift bags, gift boxes, and other products. Print the welcome card with MillersLab.com and customize it by changing the text color and select Miller’s pearlized paper for an iridescent look. Or source an online or local printer in your area for custom foil cards. Printing minimums will vary.

I recommend that you include your accordion cards in the envelope so that the recipient can get an idea of what they have been gifted. Include in the text of your welcome cards a brief explanation of how the gift card works and what it is for. Be sure to add your contact information (website & phone number). Ask the buyer for the recipient’s phone number and email so you can follow up and get them booked for a consultation to redeem their gift card. You can track the gift cards you sell or give away as vouchers through QuickBooks or create a spread sheet to track manually.

Sue has so much amazing information of how to use gift cards and gift vouchers on her Education site. 1. Shauna, just purchased your magazine template on SBE and trying to change the color of the gold outline layer. It opens AI. I mucked around with AI a bit and can’t seem to change the color from Gold to Gray. Help!

  2. Thank you Shauna for sharing. You are such an amazing designer! I was banging my head against the wall trying to find a beautiful gift card presentation. This is so inspiring, just perfect!!!

  3. Thanks for sharing such great information Shauna! Quick question, I love the platform gift box but is that a laminated or plastic gift card inserted? Do you make or print them? So love this look. Thanks!!

    1. Never mind, you get them printed at Moo and use your temp. Got it…. last line I didn’t read it. Thanks again!!

  4. Shauna, can you check the links you provided for the first four products and Moo? Those take me to a FB warning page that says, “You are leaving Facebook for this link, are you sure you want to do that?” I’ve never seen this message before and don’t even have a FB page open. ??? The other links are working fine.

    1. This was copied and pasted from a post on the FB group which is why it triggers that warning.

    1. I’ve clicked on all of them from this blog and they seem to be working on my end. Try coping the link and pasting it into your URL and see if that works.

    2. I got the same thing. It leads me to a landing page that warns me that I’m leaving Facebook. Odd.
