Top Ten SBE Videos

Sue Bryce Education has over a thousand videos to choose from, and they all go into great detail on specific topics. Whether you’ve just bought or borrowed your first camera, or you’re trying to hone your unique style, or you want to expand your lighting options, or you want to learn about marketing, or you want to introduce a new genre to your existing business… you’ll find expert advice that answers all your questions and so much more. You’ll find concrete answers, exact instructions, and step-by-step guidance to achieving your photography goals and building a successful photography business.

Photography  is a powerful medium – both for the person being photographed and for the photographer. Sue Bryce has a passion for the transformational power of photography. When people are photographed, they express the best in themselves, and in doing so must go beyond their fear of manifesting in all their power and beauty. Building a photography business is the same.

In order to create the business of your dreams and provide the life you want for yourself and your family, you must confront your blocks and go beyond your fear. You must learn to value yourself and your work in order to ask for and receive payment that equals the value of the goods and service your provide.

In this “Top Ten” list, you’ll find videos that address the whole range of this experience – from creating professional photos using the light of only one window to learning how to manifest your deepest desires. It’s all here! So, let’s jump right in!

Sue Bryce built her photography business around the light from one window. In the Natural Light Studio videos, she shows you how you only need this natural light from one window to create beautiful, professional portraits for anyone.

1. Natural Light Studio

Sue’s photos have a beautiful, super-soft look to them. It comes from knowing how to manipulate the light. In these videos, Sue will show you how to achieve this stunning look. First, you’ll learn how to identify the “hot spots,” the places the light fills the most, in any room. Then, she’ll show you how you can use a simple V-flat to flatten the light and an inexpensive piece of foamcore as the ultimate light reflector.

She’ll also teach you a simple setup for controlling light in an outdoor shoot. And if you want to bring some gear into it, there’s instructions on how to control the light entering your camera using an ND filter. As well, you’ll learn how to mimic or enhance the natural light look, using an Elinchrom Strobe, an Elinchrom Deep Dish Octa, and a Kino Constant Light.

2. Manifestation to ManifestACTION

Manifesting success doesn’t just come about from putting your dreams out into the universe. Unless you take the steps to actually manifest those dreams, they will remain that – just dreams. In two heartfelt videos, Sue shares her incredible story of highs and lows. She describes building a successful photography business that somehow left her feeling unsatisfied. Sue took a leap of faith that led her to experiencing rock bottom before she picked herself up again to build another business that was both successful and deeply satisfying.

These videos will inspire you and also give you great advice on how to brush up on the three areas that lead to manifestACTION –  emotion, mindset, and ACTION.

3. The Money Wheel of Misfortune

If you don’t address the problems you have that ultimately effect your ability to RECEIVE and MANAGE money, you just cannot run a successful business! As much as we don’t want to admit it, our current situation with money is a direct reflection of what is going on inside of us.

The Money Wheel of Misfortune:

  • Avoidance
  • Over-spending
  • Over-giving
  • Guilt & Shame
  • Resentment
  • No Boundaries
  • Not Receiving
  • Tight Fistedness

The Money Wheel of Misfortunate videos will take you through the eight styles of being blocked around building wealth, and also provide you with antidotes for healing those blocks, so that you can manifest a more enriched and enriching future.

Create a dreamy outdoor set on a budget that will give you a studio-perfect backdrop in a place as humble as a parking lot.

4. Creative Outside Shoot

In these times of restrictions on indoor gathering and social distancing, an outside shoot can be a creative and fun way to get outdoors in the fresh air with your clients. You can create a beautiful set with minimal materials and quick set-up time. Watch Sue and Gerson create a dreamy outdoor set in a parking lot, using a carport frame, lengths of netting curtain, polyester chiffon, & silk fabric secured with clamps. As the sunlight comes through the layers of chiffon, the effect is incredible.

5. Your First Package Price

Sue pulls out her black-belt karate skills (I’m not kidding!), and her awesome ability to teach all skill levels at once, in this special bonus session on print sales for bridging the gap between start up/folio build and package sales. You know that awkward gap between shoot & burn and $1,200? Boy, has Sue got some great solutions for you –  Ninja level!

6. Marketing System

In three videos, Sue gives you a recipe for a successful marketing system. Using her experience of resurrecting and reinventing 80’s glamour photography as contemporary portrait photography, Sue describes how you can develop your own brand clarity. This involves understanding the experience you provide to your clients.

Clarity is being able to:

  • name it,
  • define it,
  • describe it,
  • show it,
  • and own it.

When you have this clarity about the service you give, you can express your pricing & product in your presentation with certainty, confidence, and conviction. This ability to make a strong offer is the cornerstone to effectively marketing your photography business.

The White Sheet shoot is flattering to so many types of people, and it is also a very cost-efficient and easy setup!

7. The White Sheet

Simple, sexy, and, iconic. This is one of Sue’s most favorite and most requested sessions. Through soft back light, a blow up mattress, and white sheets, every body will look incredible in their images from this sensual, monochromatic, and highly-effective and affordable shoot.

8. Self-Value

If you are struggling with painful situations in your life, don’t miss the opportunity to watch Sue Bryce’s videos on Self-Value! This could be the catalyst you need to turn your life around!

In these powerful videos, Sue shares her personal journey with sickness, poverty, and loneliness, and how she flipped the script to experience health, wealth, and love – all by coming to understand the secret of self-value.

The way you value yourself shows up in your body & illnesses, your career, and in your relationships. Your world reflects the way you see yourself. You contain the power to transform your world. Pain is inevitable, but the secret is to choose the pain that brings you closer to your heart’s desire. Step-by-step, you can achieve your dreams. But you must choose to face & embrace your fears. You must decide to live in a way where you take full accountability and responsibility for your own life. You can take full stock of your life and accept that things are the way they are because you have chosen it. Instead of being resentful, you can ask:

  • What is this situation teaching me?
  • What am I choosing?
  • What do I really want?

You must choose to learn from pain instead of being a victim. When you choose to change your perception, you can move mountains. But it’s up to you to make that choice and keep moving forward.

9. Lighting Essentials

This video from the Live Archive was shot at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic when lockdowns and quarantines were sweeping the globe. Before getting into the class she has prepared, Sue offers words of encouragement, reminding everyone that they can still practice photographing themselves and their family and roommates they are quarantined with. Also, in doing so, everyone will be prepared to go back to work when it is possible to re-open their businesses under restriction.

Sue then shows her lighting setup with a Stella 5,000 with a white shell umbrella modifier and a modeling light on strobe. However, all the setups in this video can be done in natural light, constant light, or strobe. This video is full of lighting hacks that can be accomplished with any lighting setup you have.

The key premises it works with are:

  • Depth
  • Contouring
  • Distance
  • Contrast
  • Contouring bodies with posing and light
  • How you can alter the mood and tone of an image significantly by choosing the light

It’s all about experimenting with light and playing!

Posing is one of Sue Bryce’s many superpowers!

10. Posing Breakdown

Posing is one of the most important parts of being a portrait photographer. You MUST be able to pose women of all different body types if you want to book women as your clients. It took Sue a lot of practice, but she can say that she has mastered posing women, and she wants you to master it as well! Watching our Posing Breakdown course is the first step!

When a woman walks through your studio door, knowing exactly which poses will flatter her is going to help you focus on giving her GREAT SERVICE. Instead of worrying about how to pose, the Posing Breakdown course will have you ready to rock your session and make your client feel great every step of the way!

These posing videos are chock full of specific guidelines for how to get any client looking great, including these tips for posing chins:

  • A resting chin on both lean and curvy bodies is not flattering for a photograph.
  • You want the chin engaged.
  • Use your hand as a “chin pan” to direct the chin.
  • Have them push the chin forward towards you.
  • When you have them engage their chin, the eyes begin to engage as well.
  • Pushing the chin forward flatters everybody!

While the Posing Breakdown videos already include extensive advice for posing every type of body, two of our Curves shoots received honorable mention in our “Top Ten” contest. So, be sure to check out: Curves Shoot: Karianne and Pose – Girls with Curves to follow along on photoshoots with curvy beauties.
